Preparations

The first lighted pumkin of the season-- although I don´t like Halloween, I love pumkins, so I had to take this picture.

I nearly spent the whole day outside, in the nature- except breaks for lunch and dinner;-)

Time to prepare myself for NaNoWriMo--have to develop a kind of plot. Last year I had to decide between 2 topics. Now I´ll write about the second one I haven´t used last time... have to think of names, characters,... it will be very thrilling, because I haven´t planned anything for this novel. I just know my main character and a little bit of his background, but neither his name, his family, his job,... so , much to do anyway.

Happy Halloween for all of you, who like this day!

In some hours NaNowriMo will start- happy writing:-)

Countdown!!!!!!!!!!!!

NaNowriMo will start in more than 1 day!

The last weeks I wondered about how I could handle the writing required for my course, my daily job and how I could participate on NaNoWriMo (to write a novel within a month) as well.

Doesn´t that sound crazy?

It wasn´t easy to find a solution.
You know, I love writing and I want to write a novel like last year, because NaNoWriMo is fun.
I also knew that I have to write many pages for my course But I tried to see it as a realist--

Fact 1. I have do all the work for my job.
Fact 2. I have to write a lot for my course.
Fact 3. I LOVE WRITING! There is my desire, this "need" to write down my ideas.(Sounds weird, doesn´t it?)
Fact 4. My day doesn´t have more than 24 hours (unfortunately).

So, what about writing just for the course -- writing an assignment instead of a  novel?  Nope.
Or quiting writing at all? No way!
Or writing about 1500 words a day, writing some pages for the assignment every day, too and going to work? The final solution? Too unrealistic??

Well, my solution :
I won´t quite my job, so I have to go to work, I have to write something for my course each day and after finishing the writing for the course I´ll spend the rest of the day (at least 1 hour) on writing my novel.
That seems to be a realist way to handle everything.

I´ll see in some days, if this is true;) Then I can tell you more about my writing experiences;-)

So, if you want to become part of this writing community, check out the button on the right and participate!
Let´s rock and write;-))

Halloweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeen

Halloween. Hmm.
An old Irish custom brought to the USA by immigrants and since a couple of years it´s back in Europe again.
A tradition I didn´t know in my childhood and youth-- and I think, I haven´t missed a lot, have I? During the last 10 years the Halloween-business has grown. Now you can buy costumes, skull candles and candies nearly everywhere. But what for? We haven´t celebrated this custom in my country before and to be honest, I really see no sense in doing this.
I know, many of you love thís tradition and that´s ok with me. I don´t have to like everything. To each his own.
But I realize the growing violence each year, even in small villages, where many windows were destroyed, walls smudged,... I can´t see the fun in these actions.
Maybe because I haven´t experienced cool Halloween parties, or I´m too fearful or just old fashioned , but I´m glad, when it´s over.

Then NaNoWriMo will start!

What are your Halloween-experiences?

Light in the Dark

I love sitting near the oven and watch the fire, so relaxing. I had to take pictures of the flames...I love this warmth in the cold season:)) It has started to snow in some regions but not in mine. But I´m prepared for the snow to come, my car has already snow tires and I´m looking forward to taking pictures of the first snow!

Had to think of Elton´s song "Circle of Life".
We all know, that life is a challenge. Every day is something special. Yeah- carpe diem!
But I just heard about a couple´s separation ...
Is careful listening really enough help? I do hope so.

So much going on in my life...at the moment I´m so happy that I´ve finished writing my first chapter!!!! Success-finally I´ve found my self-discipline!Yipieee ! It was about time!  (Hope , I won´t lose it so quickly again;-)
But the more I tried to force myself to write something-the less I could write at the end.
Less writing--what a joke, during the last weeks I didn´t write anything .
So, I´m a bit satisfied and hope to have enough self discipline to go on.
Enjoy your week!

Could be an impressionistic painting, couldn´t it?
See, I´m a bit influenced by my "art" week. For the first time I visited a vernissage of an art exhibition in a bar ( the combination art + bar is really cool, like to combine music+art+going out;-), on an other day I went to the theatre and saw a (satirical) show- very funny, then I was invited to the new Picasso + Michelangelo exhibit in Vienna (in the Albertina) , what else?
Took many pics, fall offers so many great scenes--really fantastic.
See, what I mean? I love these colors!
Have fun and enjoy your weekend!

Warm Colors

“Never fear shadows. They simply mean there is a light shining somewhere nearby.”(unknown source)

One of my favorite photos at the moment. Fall´s colors are so great. Such a cool season for taking pictures! At the moment the woods shine in all different shades of yellow, green, brown, and of course red,.. one of my favorite colors.
Colors are so important for our well being- so let´s wear fall colors!
Take out your red cap, your yellow jean, your orange shirt, brown socks and combine it with a green coat! You´ll see, you´ll have a funny and remarkable day;-)
(I ´ve only tried to wear such a colorful combination during carnival season. )

What´s your favorite color?

Pink Glove Dance Spreads; Live Performance with Jay Sean

As one of my followers you might know, that October is breast cancer month- so blogging a lot about pink ribbon, pink gloves dance,... is one way to support breast cancer awareness and remind women of the importance of mammograms.
Breast cancer is not a question of a certain age, so look after yourself!
Have a good one;-)

Stress-Killer---Star Trek

Yeah, I´m a trekkie--nothing to be ashamed for;-)

S T R E S S

Stress affects your body as much as food and exercise.
So true. I´m so tired, that even reaching small daily goals has become such a tremendous effort these days.
I was told, that stress is just bad time management... as if I wouldn´t be aware of that.

But too much has happened the last weeks-- so it´s ok to feel exhausted (like after a long hiking trip).
The only thing that worries me is that I´m behind with all my writings (except blogging, because that´s soooo relaxing)...and NaNoWriMo will start in some weeks.

Well, I´m not the only person with bad time management and lots of work, that´s supporting to know.
But it doesn´t help me to get out of my current situation.

Much work+ bad timing= stress+more work
Stress+too much work= bad mood+ no time for fam + friends
No time+overworked+bad mood= unbearable for social communities
...so time to break this circle.

I´m not writing this to make you feel sorry for me, I´m just writing my stress away and it´s well known that writing helps to reflect, too...

YouTube Reader

Book corner:
Interesting read- "The YouTube Reader" by  PVonderau

Book Review: ‘The Youtube Reader’- by P.Snickars and P.Vonderau

As the fastest-growing website in the history of the Web, Youtube can be see as the figurehead in online-video and an inspiration for all sites to come. Any random visitor of Youtube surfing to the website and uploading the footage of his latest vacation to Italy, watching a video of a giggling baby or commenting on a CNN coverstory on the war in Iraq is unaware of the many characteristics this website holds. Therefore this platform has been the object of study in various fields of study ranging from a philosophical basis to a more technological.
Pelle Snickars and Patrick Vonderau recognised the many contradictions and metaphors within Youtube and composed a reader ‘that presupposes a broader theoretical framework and a critical distance vis-a-vis Youtube discourse itself’ and one that ‘would provide researchers, teachers and students with a programmatic selection of foundational texts, permitting them to mount an intervention’ (Snickars & Vonderau, 2009: p. 17

Tea + Tea-Song = Great Time;-)

Just had my cups of tea--this time I tried for the very first time white tea. Different from green tea, tastes sweet and "light". So, after this energy-shot I have worked till now. Finally I get a little bit of daily routine although I haven´t found a fitting daily schedule due to time management...but I won´t give up finding one;-)

So, note to myself: complete to-do list for this week, work at least on 1 page of writing, cook something for the next day (What? No idea yet, fast kitchen...) Wrote about pumpkins, yes! That´s it. And some zucchinis filled with meat and cheese and some potatoes with parsley!Yummy;-) Have to find a recipe...so enough to do.

Result--hunger!!
Enjoy your day and the following music- so funny, great,..

Last day of Banned Book Week

Wow, the second post today.
The week has just started and now it´s gone. What an insight!  Ha! Is that bad poetry?
Ok, have to get serious now.

I haven´t finished reading my banned book during banned book week-what a shame! But I´ll finish it soon.

Found too many interesting posts or articles about banned books and how to celebrate this week on         The Ineluctable Bookshelf and New York Times:-)
--great information ! It´s worth a visit!

Have fun reading;-) and happy weekend!

Pink Glove Dance!

Yes, I love the internet, too. Today I got lost in the internet --again! OK, but I tried to support Pink Ribbon and  found another great video on Youtube.

This month is breast cancer month and a hospital team in Oregon founded the
Pink Glove Dance-- for breast cancer awareness.

You have to check this out, too! So cool! Great idea and people!
