Hamburg

Present;-)
TownhallQuiz;-)

Townhall

Curry Wurst
QM2

Harbour

Miniature World

Back home again:-)Every time I fly home I´m glad to live where I´m living although there are many great places out there.

After some days in Hamburg where I saw QM2 I have to clean the flat, iron the shirts,... well, this has to be done, anyway.
Yesterday our flight was delayed because of technical problems:-( One tyre had to be changed (how relaxing to know) and then the air traffic control had technical problems as well.("Computer glitch delays hundreds of flights"-economist.com)
I love computers but yesterday I hated them. Wright brothers didn´t have such problems.

Back to Hamburg- after having seen the world´s largest, highest,...passenger liner we tried to eat many specialities like curry-wurst (sausage with curry), maties (young fish) and other things. I enjoyed eating everything but curry wurst. But I have to try everything to get known with a culture; so I can learn new things and find out what I haven´t missed till now;-) But it´s exciting to experience new stuff.
We also visited Messmer´s Tea World. If you are a "tea-fanatic" you have to check out this page
You´ll find great ínformation there. Worth visiting;-)I bought so much tea there -I couldn´t resist but the cold time will come soon and now I drink enough ice tea;-) Yes, I´m an teamaniac;-)

We also visited Spicy´s museum- the world of spices and herbs- I loved the smell there and I love to use them in the kitchen(and for health reasons;-)

Here some pics from Northern Germany;-)

Trip to a lake

The last 2 days I was out of order- just ill. I didn´t have the energy to write, read or even think of doing this. Being ill is boring, frustrating,..but reminds me of one of the important things in life or simply the most important thing -health.
But back again here are my promised photos from my trip to Lake Neusiedl, the second largest steppe lake in Europe- near the Austrian- Hungarian border.
Was a lovely day sunny without clouds, I could see and smell spring everywhere.

The first time I saw cut reed -used for roofs and baskets.Quite interesting.

Rust, a small village near the lake, is famous for its storks , too. You find them on nearly every roof there.

See the nests on the chimneys?

How I missed writing, but now I´m ready for revising my course-draft. Think it´s the 8th version... Now I ´ll try to create more tension- with the help of using different times in my writing. Have to do it to see if it really works.

Travel-maps

At the moment time flies with unbelievable speed. This week I got lost in Word documents, books, in talks with friends,...so I didn´t waste time at all, I finished a lot.

I took some time to play a bit with my newest toy- my cyber travel map. It´s a welcome possibility to recall the past, recall all my journeys.
Long time ago I marked all the places I had seen on a world map, now I do the same in another way. I like it and I was astonished to realize that I´ve seen more than I´ve thought of.
It took some time to rethink journeys and think of all the cities I´ve been to. It´s not so easy to remember all places, because I´ve been traveling since my childhood. I even cannot recall all my flights.....
I am a little bit frustrated that I have forgotten a lot, many names of cities, places but now I calm myself despite that fact.
I´m not too old, I´ve just traveled a lot, that´s all:-)

With 14 or 15 I made my first trip overseas - with my family. They transmitted the travel genes to me;-)- so I always have to travel to see the world. And for me (who knows and appreciates to live on the bright side of life) world travel has always been enriching- culturally as well as personally.

Quote-corner:

“Experience, travel - these are as education in themselves” I love that one! It´s so true for my life.

Bike-natics

Travel-corner:
Second day in Amsterdam-an amazing city.Lovely small buildings and canals,...in the evening it´s so calm- the surroundings reminds me of a film-set, it´s a bit unreal.
It´s easy to differentiate between tourists and Dutchmen- the first wear caps, scarfs, gloves, boots- well, winter-wear. Natives just wear sneakers, sometimes rain boots, skirts,...don´t they feel cold? It´s winter! Cold, rainy...it´s really another culture. I knew they are a bicycle-nation, but I wasn´t aware of the fact that they use their bikes even in wintertime when the streets are icy and full of snow. I love riding my bike in spring and summer, but I wouldn´t use it during this season. But I´m in another country, not used to these customs.
Unfortunately I don´t have enough time to write because of sightseeing, but it´s a nice city. We have time enough to visit many museums because of the bad weather, that´s ok by me. We had some sunshine on Monday when we did the "Grachten"-tour by boat. But today´s weather was awful-wind, rain, bit of snow in between...but a good time for visiting museums.
We went to the Van Gogh museum which was all in all a bit disappointing-the whole new wing was closed. Then we saw paintings in the Rijksmuseum-some Rembrandt´s and his famous "Night-watch" -the largest painting in the whole building. Just 2 floors with paintings-that was all. Maybe I´m a little bit spoilt because I ´ve seen many great museums like my favorite the MMA, Louvre, .....I have to enjoy the present and don´t compare museums.
I saw a big American bookstore here, want to buy some books tomorrow. Some books from B.´s blog seem to be interesting ones.
Had to think of my parents when I heard the news about the bad weather in Cran Canaria. Streets flooded, mudstreams, uprooted palms...horrible pictures, hope they are ok and they make the best of their holidays there.

To my writing-K. wanted to know, when my draft is ready to be read. What a question! I wrote her about my aim. I want to start revising after my holidays, yes, I really want to and I really hope I will.
So that´s all for tonight
Goede nacht= good night;-)
