Fighting Censorship?!

Today was my last holiday;( Knowing about this weeks daily must-to-do work I decided to go on with my revisions of my second draft. I  revised the whole afternoon- from 2 to 6- with 2 short breaks in between.
Pheww!!

The funny thing was that I forgot many scenes- they were so new to me! Really interesting to start revisions after 3 months again. (But difficult to remember as well! I have no idea what I wanted to say with some unfinished sentences! Help!)

Some scenes were filled with so much cruelty (good for tension!), others were so irreal or in some parts the main character (MC) only used the F-word or varieties of it in many sentences.
Ok, he was very angry in that scene but couldn´t he use other cuss words? Who the hell did write these scenes??;)

Now I am in the position to decide whether to use the F-word or not.
Censorship or not- that´s the question.

But on the one hand I fight censorship in books and stand up for freedom of thoughts- censorship would restrict my freedom of expression. To get a realistic scene, the MC had to use these words. So why shouldn´t I use it ?

On the other hand I´ve never written such an aggressive scene before nor did I write down the F-word. Ok, it´s my second draft, my second story- but these could be other reasons for my indecision....Hmmm.....
So?
To get the scene alive I have to use the unwanted word- BUT
the next trouble, the next decision: Should I really write the whole word? Or just make some dots in between?
My MC would laugh at me and tell me to write down the whole word because he would speak in that way.

So what is the best for the reader? What´s the best for the writer?
I have never imagined that one single word could cause such problems! ****
Readers are different and I cannnot give satisfaction to every reader- that´s impossible- unfortunately;(

One word - so many decisions!
I hope to find a good solution for this scene because I won´t delete it- it´s too essential.

Easter holidays, food and revisions

Hope you had great easter days;)
We had the perfect weather-like in summer.
Now I have enough energy for revisiong N2;)
Just have to be more consequent and write one hour a day, than I´d be ready soon.
It´s a lot easier to revise during holidays than after work...and bad weather helps me as well to go on with my revisions.
Anyway, have a good one;) and enjoy the music!

Revisions and Vacations

The first BBQ this year- yeahh!!!
Beautiful weather, butterflies, twittering of birds, smell of flowers....sooooooooooo relaxing!
It was great to have a little break between my revisions.

I was angry about my laziness in the last days; I didn´t revise a lot (because of the great weather and too many other things).
Ok, it wasn´t the weather´s fault.
It has been my own fault not to finish revisions on time.
My deadline was the end of March, now it´s April;(
but today I revised the missing last 40 + pages, so just 3 pages are left.
I ´ve organized another meeting with friends- and then, I want to be finished. So, just a few days are left, then I have to be ready. I don´t want to revise the draft anylonger-
it´s so exhausting to revise mostly in the evening...
it´s about time to do something else in the sun;)
I want some days off-I need them!! Just let me dream of vacations!

Music-corner: Vacation-song by Nelly Furtado: VACACIÒN!!!! Great music for dreaming of vacations;) Just listen and think of sea, sun and whatever you need to be happy and relax;)

Under pressure

PS at the end;-)

Normally I ´m a very patient person. Ok, I try to be one most of the time;-)
But this weekend? I have been fighting against my impatience since Friday. I´m not quite sure if I ´ll be the winner of this challenge.
To explain the reason- I set myself deadlines for my writings. And this Sunday ends my deadline for a piece of writing. OMG! Why do I put myself under pressure? There really is no need for that. Well, I have to be ready in 1 month but there are 3 other assignments I have to do as well. Therefore the deadline and the pressure. I´m just explaining it, convincing myself that this weekend has to be the way it is.
I´m used to work under pressure-although I don´t like it. I am a NANOWRIMO-winner, so what!?!
Working on this piece of writing now reminds me of my problems I had at the end of my MS. I couldn´t find an end. Each time I try to finish the draft now I don´t write the conclusion, no! I just revise the rest of the piece!!!! Again and again. So it´s getting longer and longer, I add statistics instead of coming to an end. Help! Why am I doing this?! ....or I blog something....

But I´m feeling better now:-) lol. Writing (in this case blogging) relieves!

So now I´ll finish my draft, bake another cake (´cause I nearly ate the whole I baked yesterday- out of anger;-) then I´ll visit my family and tell them about my success. My success in finishing my writing. (Hopefully!!)

So let´s do it- now. Ciao! (hey , I´m rhyming:-)

------------------------------------------------
PS: I´m done!!! Have to applaud myself;-)))))))))))))))))))))))

Success!

Finally I found a solution for my "writing-problem" today. I mean the one with the 2 tenses.
Writing in 1 or in 2 tenses, that was the question.
I decided to write just in the past tense form -it was the easiest way to avoid disappointment.
Well, and I´m a rational person- often. Risking something will make sense if you are sure to do the right thing. Without this inner confidence it´s not clever to try something -especially when you know that your writing will be graded.

Solution found, risk avoided, thrill deleted:-( Too bad!

Have to find another kick, maybe I should change something in my other draft - the tenses, the main characters, the whole plot,...just kidding;-) what else? But maybe.... you´ll see after my first revision- just ask me in 30 years or so:-) lol

Today seems to be my funny one maybe because I´m so happy that I finished 2 assignments out of 6 (for the last and the next block- my personal deadline is no later than the end of June, so I´ll have one week of before starting the 4. block. Hope , I´ll be ready sooner. This week I´ll finish the next 2 pieces. Quickly? No. I´ve just written a lot on different pieces this month....
and finally success!

Trip to a lake

The last 2 days I was out of order- just ill. I didn´t have the energy to write, read or even think of doing this. Being ill is boring, frustrating,..but reminds me of one of the important things in life or simply the most important thing -health.
But back again here are my promised photos from my trip to Lake Neusiedl, the second largest steppe lake in Europe- near the Austrian- Hungarian border.
Was a lovely day sunny without clouds, I could see and smell spring everywhere.

The first time I saw cut reed -used for roofs and baskets.Quite interesting.

Rust, a small village near the lake, is famous for its storks , too. You find them on nearly every roof there.

See the nests on the chimneys?

How I missed writing, but now I´m ready for revising my course-draft. Think it´s the 8th version... Now I ´ll try to create more tension- with the help of using different times in my writing. Have to do it to see if it really works.

Adaption

The only thing worrying me today is the revision of my MS.

At the moment I have the feeling that my new beginning doesn´t fit to the rest of the story.
So I try to find a solution.

Now, is it better to adapt the new beginning to the entire novel
or just do it the other way round? Try to adapt the whole story to the first pages???
Have to think about it....

WAW-What A Week!!

This week was(is) exhausting, 1.accident of my father- thank God he´s alive, 2. Friend of mine lost her baby 3. my job...
What a week, and then I read the latest news from Denmark´s climate conference.
I pinned my hope for saving climate on the climate summit in Copenhagen, what shall I say, it nearly failed.
According to the L.A. Times ´the Copenhagen Accord sets emission limits but isn't legally binding. It's vague on details and has infuriated smaller nations and environmentalists. The U.N. chief calls it 'an essential beginning.'
Well, the great problem is that the emission limits aren´t binding. So what? Every state can decide on his own whether to fulfill the contract or not. What a great deal! It´s a bit frustrating.
But now I have to remind myself of the positive aspects- well, met my nice and nephew, had lunch with a friend, met S.in the coffeeshop, celebrated b-day with C., finally found a x-mas present for D., find it relaxing to write( although the problems of revision hasn´t changed.
Why is it so difficult for me to reread all those 50.000+ words once more and revise it? Actually I had read them once...
What´s my problem with the beginning and the end of my novel?
Maybe I am a bit too tired to revise it. Maybe I´m a bit too busy at the moment.

X-mas song for today- We are the world
